Jama’at said police yesterday arrested Advocate Zahid Ali (Spokesperson of Jama’at) along with Farooq Ahmad Sheikh (Ameer-e-Tehsil Kulgam) at Gopalpora Kulgam after attending a condolence meet there. These arrests have been made on the arbitrary directions of concerned SP which vindicates how much power is being misused by the people at helm and the allegations leveled against the duo are baseless and fabricated. These arrests depict government and its machinery is hell bent to create vague atmosphere in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in order to crush the sentiment of people who are demanding its fundamental and birth right ‘right to self determination’ accepted by both India and Pakistan before international community. The leaders were detained under section 13 of Unlawful activities first at PS Kulgam and later shifted to PS Damhal Hanjipora.

Moreover forces have unleashed a reign of terror by using its might upon peaceful Kashmiris at every corner of valley. Injuring, maiming and beating civilians in Saderkote Bandipora, Baramullah, Islamabad, Hawal Srinagar are worst example of human rights violations at the hands of government forces.

Jama’at strongly condemns such retributive measures by authorities and appeals international forums including OIC to intervene for the safety of Kashmiri Muslims who are the worst sufferers at the hands of Indian forces.
